Mother, 27, stabbed to death while pushing baby in stroller in 'shocking' attack

English police are searching for a 25-year-old man in connection with the fatal stabbing.

Police in England are searching for a man accused of stabbing a woman to death while she was walking her baby in a stroller.

The 27-year-old victim, who has not yet been identified, was stabbed in Bradford, Yorkshire, on Saturday (April 6), West Yorkshire Police said in a statement. Her baby was in the stroller at the time of the attack but was not injured, the BBC reported.

The woman, who suffered “several stab wounds”, was then taken to hospital where she died from her injuries, according to police and the BBC.

“This is a shocking incident which took place in broad daylight in a busy area of ​​Bradford and was witnessed by a number of people,” said Detective Chief Inspector Stacey Atkinson, of the West Yorkshire Police's Homicide and Major Investigation Team said in a statement.

“A young woman has lost her life in the most horrific circumstances, and we are conducting a thorough investigation to locate and arrest the man responsible, who appears to be known to the victim,” Atkinson continued.

Habibur Masum, 25, has been named as a suspect in the stabbing case and police are currently appealing to the public to locate him.

The victim and suspect also knew each other, authorities confirmed.

In CCTV footage released by police, Masum was last seen wearing a gray, white and black coat, light blue or gray sweatpants and brown sneakers.

According to a witness, the release said the suspect was also wearing his balaclava when last seen.

“We know that this incident will understandably cause concern in the local community, and I would like to reassure the general public that we are working tirelessly to investigate this horrific crime and bring the person responsible to justice,” Atkinson added about the attack.

“To help us, we are urging anyone in the area who may have dashcam footage or see or hear anything, no matter how small it may seem, to come forward.” -she continued. “A scene remains in place which includes road closures and I thank the public for their patience while we conduct our investigations.”
