Monsoon: 251 relief camps identified in Wayanad

The Wayanad District Disaster Management Authority has identified as many as 251 relief camps to relocate families in flood-prone areas ahead of the monsoon.

District Collector Renu Raj asked officials to report details of families living in disaster-prone areas, provide information on setting up relief camps, coordinate rescue operations and set up control rooms at the taluk level.

As many as 214 disaster-prone regions have been identified. In total, 8,824 families were evacuated and more than 30,300 people were accommodated in relief camps.

District and taluk level control rooms have been set up and will operate round the clock.
