Modern Warfare 3 fans are divided after Sledgehammer Games revealed plans to nerf one of the game's most popular weapons.

The Season 4 update contained a host of new content for multiplayer and zombies, including the Superi 46 submachine gun, but it was the return of an iconic rifle that caught the attention of many people jumping into the action.

Since his return, Kar98k has dominated the meta thanks to his high level of mobility and ability to break down opposition at any distance. With his dominance showing no signs of slowing down, the promoter has stepped in to tame his power.

One Reddit user claims that the Kar98k “is the best hunting rifle in the game”, although it falls into the sniper rifle category thanks to its close-quarters firepower.

In response, Sledgehammer Games revealed that it would receive balance changes as part of the Season 4 Reloaded update: “Kar98k balance adjustments are coming, and we are currently targeting the update for Season 4 Reloaded.”

While some are looking forward to its nerf, others think the rifle only needs a little tweaking to get it back online: “In my opinion, it just needs a little nerf to the ADS. I can live with the damage,” says one fan.

On the other hand, many don't want the weapon to receive a nerf. “They always hear the 'nerf it' feedback. They never hear the 'This is the most fun I've had in gaming in years,'” another player comments.
