Missing woman, 57, found in Fort Pierce after search

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. — Theodora Sandlin-Williams was found in Fort Pierce shortly after 9 p.m. Friday.

WPTV's Cassandra Garcia spoke with authorities who said she was at Great Smile Dental on Port St. Lucie Blvd. with her husband when she moved away.

The search began shortly before 5 p.m., when she was caught on surveillance video walking east toward Floresta Drive. That's where police believe she may have gotten into a white sedan and drove to the Walmart on US-1.

Police spent the evening canvassing her last known location, checking with businesses and homeowners and searching local parks to find her. They also deployed dogs and drones to help them in their search.

We're told the person who found her was a passerby who didn't even know she was missing, but called 911.

“More than likely she was in a vehicle, so, again, not knowing where she might end up in a vehicle, we used that human force,” said Sergeant Dominick Mesiti, spokesperson. word of the Port St. Lucie Police Department.

“It was a little exacerbated,” he added. “She's an endangered adult, she's cognitively impaired and she's non-verbal, so that raises the bar a little bit higher. So we want to make sure we can get her back quickly and safely, that’s why we deploy the resources we have.”

Sandlin-Williams was last seen around 4:55 p.m. in the 100 block of Southwest Boulevard in Port St. Lucie, police said in a Facebook post.

They said she had cognitive issues and was nonverbal.

Police said Sandlin-Williams was seen on surveillance video walking east toward southeast Floresta Drive and may have gotten into a white sedan.
