Missing teen found 63 miles from home after leaving 'goodbye' note

A missing 17-year-old girl was found more than 60 miles from her Texas home four days after leaving a chilling “goodbye” note claiming she would be gone for a “long time.” KHOU reported Sunday June 2.

Geneva Hodge was reported missing from her home in Bellville on Wednesday May 29 morning after her mother, François Schraderdiscovered the creepy note on her bed, which she allegedly left hours before.

“'This will be the last time you hear from me for a very long time and it says: I love you mom, I will always be your little girl,'” Schrader said in the note from his daughter stated via KHOU.

Schrader feared for her daughter's safety, suspecting she had been persuaded or coached by someone else to write the note.

“Everyone read this letter and they say to themselves: “This is not Geneva. That’s just not her,” she said.

Schrader said she and Geneva had argued over a romantic relationship the teen had with an older man before she disappeared. the daily mail reported. Geneva allegedly left behind her cell phone and clothes and did not use a debit card while she was missing, according to her mother.

Schrader feared her daughter, who was set to start her senior year of high school in the fall, might have been a victim of human trafficking after she was spotted with an older man. The mother received a call from a stranger who called the number listed on a missing poster for Geneva after spotting her in Spring, Texas, about 63 miles from the family home four days after she disappeared.

Schrader drove to town and picked up her daughter, with the Bellville Police Department confirming Hodge was found Sunday. Private detective Colman Ryanwho worked with Schrader to find his missing daughter, said KHOU that although details about Geneva's disappearance are scarce, something about the situation seems strange.

“She said and the closest people around her said, it's not her, something is wrong here. I agree. Who would know better,” he said.
