Two women left Evanston aboard a 12-foot sailboat on Sunday before it capsized at dusk.

Around 2 a.m. Monday, one of the women swam about two miles to the shore of Tower Road Beach to seek help, according to firefighters.

The woman told authorities that the second woman, 50, was still missing.

The sailboat was found about two to three miles from shore, according to firefighters.

The missing woman is believed to have been wearing a life jacket.

The Coast Guard is assisting in the search and rescue mission, firefighters said.

It comes as crews searched for a man who allegedly fell from a boat Saturday afternoon near the closed boating area, also known as “Playpen,” near downtown.

After about an hour of searching for the 58-year-old man Saturday, crews called off the search for the night.

Divers returned Sunday, but it was not yet known if anyone had been found. The search was suspended again.
