Missing South Miami Toddler Shea Eminhizer Found – NBC 6 South Florida

A little girl who was missing for a week in South Miami has been found and is back in her father's custody.

Video shot by NBC6 shows the mother of 3-year-old Shea Eminhizer taking the child to the South Miami police station on Tuesday.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement has issued a missing child alert for Eminhizer, who was reported missing on June 24.

Authorities said she was with her mother, who is in the middle of a custody battle with the child's father.

The father was granted full custody of the child and Betancourt was ordered to undergo a psychological evaluation.

Christine Betancourt, the child's mother, was seen sobbing outside the police station after abandoning the child.

“It’s so horrible,” Betancourt told NBC6 through tears. “I don’t know why any father would want his daughter to suffer like that.”

The child's father was also present at the police station, seen smiling and carrying the 3-year-old child.

“I'm just grateful that our daughter is back safe and sound,” he told reporters.

Betancourt's attorney told NBC6 that there was never any report that the child was with his mother and that the child was never missing, and that the report was false.

“The father knew she was going on vacation and, frankly, she's very upset right now because she thinks the best interests of the child are to be with the mother, so that's why she's very upset,” he said.
