Missing person's body found in submerged car removed from Sacramento boat ramp

SACRAMENTO – The body of a missing person was found in a vehicle that was pulled from the water Sunday morning at a Sacramento boat ramp, officials said.

Elmer Marzan, a Sacramento County Regional Parks sergeant, told CBS13 they received a report that something was obstructing the Discovery boat launch on Friday.

The Drowning Rescue Team was contacted Saturday to investigate and determined there was a target that needed to be investigated.

Sunday morning, the crew responded again and located a submerged vehicle. A tow cable was attached and the vehicle was removed from the water.

Marzan said when the car was removed, a body was found in the vehicle. They ran the license plate number and it came back as a missing person report from Reno, Nevada.

Authorities later confirmed that the person inside the vehicle was indeed the missing person. The identity of this person has not been released.

Marzan added that the boats could have damaged the vehicle by hitting the vehicle with props.

Thursday morning, a ship caught fire on the same boat ramp and no victims were found.
