Missing North Carolina woman, suspected kidnapper found dead in Iredell County after Ashanti alert

DAVIE COUNTY, N.C. (WGHP) — Woman and man suspected in her possible kidnapping were found deadaccording to the Davie County Sheriff's Office.

An Ashanti Alert has been issued for Cynthia “Cindy” Roberson Gobble, 60, of Mocksville, Thursday after she reportedly went missing from a home in Mocksville. The suspect was identified as Gregory Wayne Gobble, 59, of Mocksville.


The family said it was strange that she was out of contact for so long and her belongings were found in her vehicle.

“Citizens are urged to be on the lookout for Cynthia Roberson Gobble. There is evidence of physical endangerment, kidnapping, or abduction,” the alert states.

On Friday, the Davie County Sheriff's Office said Cynthia and Gregory Gobble were found dead in a wooded area on the Iredell County side of the Iredell-Davie line. The sheriff's office did not release additional information about the condition or context in which they were found.

“Detectives from Iredell and Davie counties are currently investigating the scene,” the sheriff’s office said. “We do not suspect anyone else to be involved in this incident and there is no ongoing danger to members of the public.”
