Missing New Jersey woman rescued in wooded area, suffering injuries

Gloucester County authorities found a missing woman last Thursday about 24 hours after she disappeared in a wooded area off Black Horse Pike, officials said.

Through a multi-agency effort including state, county and local authorities, the Monroe Township Police Department announced that the 63-year-old woman was found in the area of ​​the 3000 block of South Black Horse Pike approximately 24 hours after his disappearance. last Wednesday.

Monroe Township police were called looking for Fitzgerald on May 23 after receiving a report of a missing woman, authorities said. The day before, around 5 p.m., surveillance footage showed her walking in a wooded area in the Winslow Wildlife Management Area, police said.

Weather conditions Wednesday night through Thursday were unforgiving with heavy rain and authorities called in the Gloucester County Ground Search and Rescue Team, officials said in a news release.

The woman was found 90 minutes after the search began, about 800 meters from the road in the forest, alive but injured. Investigators said it was likely she wandered into the woods.

She had no communications devices on her when she was found, authorities said, and she could not walk. An all-terrain utility vehicle, or UTV, was used to transport her out of the forest. She was then transported to Jefferson Hospital for treatment, officials said.

Monroe Police Chief Ryan Borkowski declined to comment on the woman's injuries Tuesday.
