Missing Nevada County child found safe; Amber Alert Completed

NEVADA CITY, Calif. (KOLO) –UPDATE AT 9:00 p.m.: The Nevada County Sheriff's Office said the child and suspect were both found and uninjured.

Search teams heard cries for help and found the two men at the bottom of a steep canyon, the sheriff's office said. People on a search plane saw them.

The California Highway Patrol used their helicopter to safely remove the child from the area. Searchers used ropes to pull the suspect out of the canyon.

ORIGINAL STORY: An Amber Alert has been issued for a 3-year-old boy who was reported abducted Friday morning in an unincorporated area of ​​Nevada County near Nevada City.

Authorities said Maverick Brown is white, 3 feet tall, weighs about 40 pounds, with blonde hair cut in a mohawk and blue eyes. He would probably wear a beige shirt and shorts.

The woman who allegedly took him is Siera Marie Salitrero, 30. She is described as white, 5 feet 4 inches tall, 135 pounds, with blonde hair and blue eyes. She is believed to be wearing a black sports bra, white shirt and blue jeans.

Salitrero allegedly made statements of self-harm and is suspected in an assault on North Bloomfield Road near Grizzly Hill Road. She was last seen walking toward the South Yuba River.

The Nevada County Sheriff's Office reports they have 13 deputies and 35 search and rescue personnel searching for the two men.

If anyone knows their location, they are asked to call 911.
