Missing Nevada and Missouri man found dead

UPDATED 03/07/24 – Eric Strom, 63, missing since June 12, 2024, has been found dead, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

According to MSHP Sergeant Mike McClure, Strom's body was found on June 27, 2024, near where he was last seen. McClure said the body was difficult to identify due to its decomposition.

Authorities do not believe this was a criminal act.

VERNON COUNTY, Mo. — The Nevada, Missouri, Police Department has issued an endangered silverback advisory for Eric Strom, 63, of Nevada, Missouri, who went missing Wednesday morning, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

MSHP says Strom left a nursing home located at 401 E. Walnut St. in Nevada on foot at 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 12, 2024. MSHP also says he has been diagnosed with dementia.

Strom is described as a white male with blond hair and hazel eyes, standing 6 feet 1 inches tall and weighing 220 pounds. He was last seen wearing a blue T-shirt and blue jeans.

Anyone who sees Strom or has information about Strom is asked to call the nearest law enforcement agency 911 or the Nevada Department of Police at 417-667-6042.
