Missing Multiversus open beta features return

As many players return to the game in droves, the Multiverse the recovery was difficult. Many features in the beta are missing altogether, and some changes have been met with derision. Warner Bros.' Filled Platform Fighter IP controls well and shows a lot of promise, but this comeback hasn't been without its problems. But now it looks like most, if not all, of the beta features we're missing will be added to the game at some point.

After a few days of silence despite player feedback on Multiversus, we finally have an update. The platform fighting game hasn't gotten rid of long-lost open beta features forever; we instead rebuilt the netcode and are moving to Unreal Engine 5 to thank.

“Thanks for your feedback!” Multiversus game director Tony Huynh begins. “The team is working hard on this. Some of the settings and features missing from the Open Beta are coming: team colors, endgame stats, swapping side and neutral attacks, adjustable input buffer settings, and more. More information soon!

“Many of these features are currently implemented and are being tested and we had planned for this, but were left behind due to time as we had to rebuild every screen and feature again to support our new netcode and Unreal Engine 5 switch. Thanks again! I hope some of this context is helpful.

I reported on Multiversus' post-launch removals, with players bemoaning the fact that the open beta seemed to have more options than the game's full 1.0 launch. The biggest missing piece is the ability to play characters you don't own in training mode or offline, which Huynh doesn't mention here. The camera also zooms in during fights, and co-op mode against AI, free-for-all with items, and more are also nowhere to be found.

As Huynh admitted, the reason these features aren't present in the full Multiverus launch comes down to the new netcode and the move to UE5. When the change was announced, Huynh said that the lighting and character visuals would improve accordingly, while the netcode rebuild aimed to improve the online experience.

I seriously hope all the removed features return, with the ability to play all characters (even if you haven't unlocked them), the main one of them. This was a great feature considering how roster rotation and unlocking worked, as it allowed you to try out characters before purchasing them. Now this is nowhere visible in Multiversus.

With so many characters in the game, we've put together an evolving Multiversus tier list for you to get lost in, alongside the current free Multiversus characters you can play for free right now.
