Missing mother of two found dead near Dawson Creek, B.C.

RCMP say human remains found near Dawson Creek, B.C., have been identified as those of a woman who went missing late last year.

Police say Renée Didier (Supernant) was found on May 18 near the Kiskatinaw River, which flows west of the northeastern British Columbia city.

The Cree woman, a mother of two, was last seen on surveillance footage from a gas station on December 3, 2023 and was reported missing on December 7.

Didier, who was 40 years old at the time of his disappearance, is one of four people missing from Dawson Creek, a town in the Peace River region located about 740 kilometers north of Vancouver and 20 kilometers from the border of Alberta and which has a population of 12,000. last year, sparking community-wide research and questions about public safety.

Others missing include Didier's cousin, Darylyn Supernant, last seen on March 15, 2023.

Also missing is Dave Daniel Domingo, a 24-year-old man who was in a rural area near Dawson Creek on Aug. 29 when police responded to reports of a possible shooting.

Cole Hosack, a 24-year-old Prince George man, was last seen on New Year's Eve at the same bar Didier was spotted at shortly before his disappearance.

In addition to Didier's discovery, police found human remains on April 19 on Highway 219 near Saskatoon Creek, north of the city. They have not announced any positive identification in this case.

Remember Grandma called him “fun-loving”

In a previous interview with CBC News, Didier's grandmother, Verna Cardinal, described her as a “fun-loving” mother of two.

“She was always laughing a lot,” Cardinal said.

She expressed concern that Didier had been in contact with people involved in drugs shortly before his disappearance, but said it was still unusual for her not to make contact. Cardinal said she was supposed to pick up her granddaughter the night she disappeared, but “she never called me.”

The family asked for privacy following Didier's discovery.
