Missing Memphis Marine Found and Incarcerated | News

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – A Memphis Marine who disappeared from a base in a heavily wooded area of ​​Missouri has been found and jailed.

Kavian Elder was reported missing from Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, on May 3. Booking records show the 19-year-old Marine was arrested and booked into the Crawford County, Missouri, jail on June 11. According to the Crawford County Sheriff's Office website, Elder was convicted of a federal offense and is being housed by the U.S. Marshals Service in St. Louis. Elder has no bond, according to jail records.

Elder's father, Fred Elder, appealed for his son's return after he went missing in May. “Kavian, we all miss you. We love you. Your mother loves you. I am your father, I love you… You have to face what you did. But I will be there with you, hand by hand, step by step to deal with this situation,” said Fred Elder.

Elder was stationed at Fort Leonard Wood, in a heavily wooded area of ​​Missouri. The base is about an hour and 20 minutes southwest of Crawford County, Missouri, where the Marine was incarcerated more than a month after his disappearance.
