Missing Gwinnett County teen last seen leaving home in February

Asata Amun, 16, was last seen leaving her home in Buford on February 1.

BUFORD, Ga. — The Gwinnett County Police Department is asking for the public's help in locating a missing teenager who reportedly left his home four months ago and never returned.

Officials said Asata Amun, 16, was last seen on doorbell video running outside the front door of her Westoak Court home in Buford on Feb. 1.

Police said Amun had been disciplined by the school administration the day before she disappeared, and detectives believe the incident may have caused her to leave her home. She did not take any personal items with her when she left.

She is 5 feet 2 inches tall, weighs 115 pounds, and has black hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a white shirt and black pants.

Police are urging the public to share any new information about Amon's disappearance, as they have received little to no information on her whereabouts since she was reported missing in April. Family members say she didn't mention her escape before leaving and they hope someone will come forward with information about her whereabouts.

If anyone has information to share in this case, contact GCPD detectives at 770-513-5300. To remain anonymous, tipsters should contact Crime Stoppers at 404.577.TIPS (8477) or visit www.stopcrimeATL.com.
