Missing college student Riley Strain only got one drink before being kicked out of Nashville bar, owners say

Riley Strain, a University of Missouri student who disappeared after being kicked out of a Nashville bar, was only served a drink before being escorted out, bar owners say.

The 22-year-old student was partying with friends at Luke Bryan's 32 Bridge Food + Drink bar just before 10pm on March 8. The bar's owner, TC Restaurant Group, told KOLR 10 that Mr. Strain was served an alcoholic drink and two waters before he was asked to leave.

“No one from Riley's group was required to stay inside the room to close open tabs, and no one from Luke's 32 Bridge team stopped anyone from Riley's group from leaving the room with him,” added the owners.

Mr. Strain and his fraternity brothers were reportedly traveling to Nashville for an official spring ceremony.

The news comes days after the Tennessee Alcoholic Beverage Commission announced March 13 that it was investigating whether or not Mr. Strain was given alcohol while he was visibly intoxicated at the bar.

A search has been underway for more than a week. Nashville police said there are currently “no signs of foul play” amid the ongoing hunt for Mr. Strain.

Metro Nashville Police Sergeant Bob Neilsen said March 14, “In a missing person case, people go missing for a variety of reasons. Some are voluntary, others not. Some could be due to a medical incident.

“At this time, we have no idea what happened to this gentleman. However, we do not believe that there was a crime. All our resources are currently devoted to locating it.

Police also revealed that homeless residents of two encampments near the Cumberland River confirmed seeing Mr. Strain the night he disappeared. They didn't know where he was going after spotting him.

Mr. Strain's father-in-law said in an interview Monday that the days following Riley's disappearance had been “pure hell.”

A vigil was held for high school students earlier this week in Springfield, Missouri.
