Missing city woman reportedly found dead | News, Sports, Jobs

Amber Harrington

The search for a Jamestown woman has reportedly ended.

Amber Harrington had been missing since January. According to Merry Williams-Diers in a Facebook post Tuesday evening, Harrington was found dead. Williams-Diers, the local woman behind WNY Missing and unidentified Persons, had organized searches for Harrington in Jamestown.

“Our continued prayers for his family and friends who are grieving the loss of such a young/beautiful life gone too soon,” Williams-Diers posted. “RIP Amber. A very special thank you to my selfless community volunteers who dedicated countless hours to help in the search for Amber. Our only regret is that we didn't find her as we had all hoped and prayed.

Jamestown Police Department officials were not available for comment Wednesday. JPD had helped with efforts to find Harrington, including sending out a public notice in April, but family members organized a GoFundMe Wednesday to help pay for Harrington's funeral arrangements.

“I'm raising money to help fund the cremation and funeral of my niece, Amber Harrington,” Kristine Edwards wrote on the GoFundMe page. “She was 23 when she disappeared, 24 when she was found. Amber was a donor, she would give her shirt if it would help anyone. It was his nature. Amber went missing in January, her family was looking for her and couldn't find her. Yesterday his remains were found. Today, it was confirmed to us that it was indeed Amber's remains. Amber also has a 4 year old daughter who will never see her mother, we will only have photos to share with her. Amber lost her mother (my sister) in 2020. Since then, Amber has not been the same. She is now back with her mother. We think she deserves a good start.
