Missing child found safe after massive search – WRBI Radio

(Decatur County, IN) – A missing child case had a happy ending.

A massive ground, air and underwater search took place yesterday afternoon in southern Decatur County after a two-year-old boy was reported missing shortly after 1 p.m. from a home located in the 2000 block of West County Road 600 South.

The Decatur County Sheriff's Office said the child was last seen wearing only a diaper and had been missing for about an hour before the report.

First responders immediately arrived in the area and began a search involving a long list of agencies.

The boy was found around 2:15 p.m. – asleep and unharmed – at a neighbor’s house.

Investigators say it appears he entered through a dog door.

“This search was truly a team effort between all agencies involved,” said Sheriff Bill Meyerrose.

The Decatur County Sheriff's Office received assistance from:

  • Greensburg Police Department.
  • Greensburg Fire Department.
