Missing Carter County man's vehicle spotted in South Carolina | WJHL

CARTER COUNTY, Tenn. (WJHL) — The vehicle of a missing Carter County man has been located in South Carolina, law enforcement said Friday.

The Carter County Sheriff's Office said the vehicle of missing man Victor Birchfield, 61, was spotted in the Clemson, South Carolina area.


South Carolina law enforcement is assisting CCSO with the investigation.

“Our agents continue to investigate all leads and information we receive regarding Mr. Birchfield’s whereabouts,” Sheriff Mike Fraley said in a news release. “We are working with other law enforcement agencies in South Carolina as well as the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation on this matter.”

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) issued a Silver Alert for Birchfield on June 22.

Birchfield was last seen on June 19, wearing an orange T-shirt, gray basketball shorts, leather shoes and black socks. He has gray hair and hazel eyes, is 5'6″ tall and weighs 170 pounds.

Birchfield is believed to be traveling in a silver 2003 Toyota 4Runner with rear-end damage. The license plate number is TN 070-BKZV.
