Madison County Sheriff Erik J. Weaver announced Tuesday that his office will hold a sheriff's sale Saturday morning, June 15, to satisfy a writ of possession judgment related to the recent padlocking of downtown Miranda's Restaurant of Madison.

“The collected goods will be auctioned off to the highest bidder,” the flyer states. “Goods for sale include restaurant materials, equipment and furniture.”

Contacted Tuesday, MCSO Capt. Sarah McKight confirmed that the restaurant facilities being auctioned belonged to the former restaurant. She said her office removed the installations Monday on county-owned property.

Padlocked by the Virginia Department of Taxation on April 24 for failure to pay the Commonwealth more than $27,000 in trash, sales and employee withholding taxes, the restaurant has remained closed since, without notice to the public.

Agents from Virginia ABC and law enforcement officers from the Sheriff's Office assisted in the shutdown of the business.

Restaurant owner Miranda A. Durrer-Davis still owns a restaurant in Ruckersville.
