Minor killed in fight over Gutkha in Mulund | Mumbai News

A 17-year-old boy was murdered in a fight over gutka, a smokeless tobacco product, in Mulund near Mumbai on Friday night.

The minor, who was heading towards a waterfall in Vasant Garden with his three teenage friends, was attacked with knives by a three-member gang, Mulund police said.

Several teams have been formed to nab the accused youths, who are absconding, an official said.

According to investigators, the criminals attacked the teenagers carrying gutkha and demanded that they give them nicotine.

As the boys refused to give in to their demand, the miscreants started abusing and assaulting them, they said.

One of the accused brandished a knife to threaten the minors and stabbed the victim in the chest and left thigh as she resisted an attempted robbery, police said.

Although the injured boy was rushed to Agarwal Hospital, he was declared brought dead.

The Mulund police recorded the statements of the teenagers, informed their parents and initiated a case under sections 302 (murder), 397 (robbery with deadly weapon) and 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code against the three unidentified assailants .

The DCP of the area, ACP and other officers visited the crime scene.
