Minister for Youth Welfare and Sports Development Udhayanidhi Stalin on Friday inspected the Ondipudur Open Air Prison for the development of a cricket stadium meeting international standards in Coimbatore.

Two plots of land – one of 20.18 acres and an adjacent nine-acre plot – in Ondipudur are among the potential sites being considered for the Coimbatore stadium.

Industries Minister TRB Rajaa said in a meeting with industrialists on Friday that the pace at which the promise of the new Coimbatore International Cricket Stadium has been fulfilled is an illustration of the speed of the Tamil Nadu government. The Sports Development Minister visited a potential site for the stadium today, just 10 days after the general election results were declared, Mr Rajaa said.
