Military veteran hopes to find missing emotional support dog

JACKSONVILLE, Florida. – A military veteran is hoping to find his emotional support dog who went missing Friday after an accident.

Arturo Lara is an Amry veteran who has completed multiple deployments to Iraq and volunteered in Ukraine.

Lara and her Siberian Husky named Ezra were involved in an accident on Beach Boulevard near Barkley Road and that's when she went missing.

“I became disabled. I began to suffer from numerous mental health issues, severe anxiety, depression, insomnia, and PTSD. And, you know, things got worse,” Lara said.

He adopted Ezra shortly after returning from a deployment to Iraq seven years ago.

“It's difficult. It's sometimes difficult to talk about it. I attempted suicide after my last return from Iraq. And so she's been there, she's been there with me,” Lara said. “For several years since I had her, every time I hit rock bottom, she was the only one there for me. And sp, she means a lot.

Lara said it had been hard living without Ezra.

“I'll find myself crying thinking the worst. I'll probably never see her again,” he said.

Lara had posted on social media to raise awareness of her lost canine friend.

If you have seen the Siberian Husky, you can reach Arturo at 912-307-7999.
