Michigan man sentenced for bringing more than a pound of meth into Harrison County

CLARKSBURG, W.Va. (WBOY) — A Michigan man has been sentenced to federal prison after being charged and convicted of possession with intent to distribute 50 grams or more of methamphetamine.

Bacarré Curtis

According to a release from the U.S. Department of Justice, Bacarre H. Curtis, 23, of Eastpointe, Michigan, was sentenced Tuesday after it was discovered he was transporting methamphetamine from Eastpointe to Harrison County for sale.

Court documents say Curtis – also known as TJ – sold methamphetamine “with a network of third parties.” A search of his vehicle revealed methamphetamine as well as a firearm, and a subsequent investigation linked 1.2 kilograms of methamphetamine.

Curtis was initially indicted in 2022 alongside Darius Robertson, also of Michigan, after undercover agents with the Greater Harrison Drug Task Force made a controlled purchase from him.

Curtis was sentenced to 120 months in federal prison and will serve five years of supervised release after his sentence is completed.

The Drug Enforcement Administration, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, the Greater Harrison Drug Task Force, and the Harrison County Sheriff's Office investigated the incident. Assistant United States Attorney Andrew Cogar prosecuted the case on behalf of the U.S. government.
