Troconis is the girlfriend of Fotis Dulos, Jennifer's ex-husband who was charged with her murder. Fotis committed suicide in January 2020 and his case ultimately did not go to trial.

Troconis was convicted of these charges in March:

  • Conspiracy to commit murder
  • Conspiracy to tamper with physical evidence – Related to May 24, 2019
  • Tampering with material evidence – Related to May 24, 2019
  • Conspiracy to tamper with physical evidence – Related to May 29, 2019
  • Tampering with material evidence – Related to May 29, 2019
  • Obstruction of prosecution

Following the guilty verdict, Troconis failed to post bond and was detained at York Correctional Center in East Lyme.

On April 10, a Stamford judge denied Troconis' requests for an acquittal and a new trial. The decisions came hours after arguments by Troconis' defense attorney, Jon Shoenhorn.

Jennifer was last seen on May 24, 2019, while dropping her children off at school. His disappearance was reported in the evening and an investigation was opened.

Troconis was seen in the passenger seat of a Ford Raptor, in which Fotis was seen throwing evidence into trash cans along Albany Avenue in Hartford the night Jennifer disappeared.

Troconis also accompanied Fotis to the car wash, where he detailed the Toyota Tacoma he was driving to and from Jennifer's home in New Canaan, according to court testimony.

During a two-month trial, the jury was shown evidence collected from several homes and vehicles and viewed surveillance footage obtained from neighbors and rest areas on the highway. The jury also witnessed hours of questioning by investigators with Troconis.

Testimony from witnesses the prosecution called to the stand included investigators who responded to the initial missing person report on Jennifer's behalf on May 24, 2019, forensic pathologists who tested the evidence collected for blood and DNA , as well as a former employee of Fotis.

Defense testimony included experts in psychology and linguistics, as well as neighbors, co-workers and others once close to Fotis and Troconis.
