Miami Twitch Streamer Helps Michigan Family Find Missing Teen

(NewsNation) — A 17-year-old Michigan boy who had been missing for about three months was found safe in Miami thanks to a chance encounter with someone who was live streaming on Twitch.

Troy Coleman disappeared last May from Mt. Morris Township, Michigan, about 80 miles northwest of Detroit. Troy did not have the medication he takes for mental health issues that his brother, Trent, describes as schizophrenic.

Last week on the streaming platform Twitch, a content producer known as FaZe Lacy was streaming with a friend known as Clix in Miami. During the stream, Lacy focused on a shirtless boy in green shorts who was mingling with the crowd.

A few days later, Lacy found this note in his email: “Hello, my name is Trent Coleman and my missing little brother from Michigan was on Clix and Lacy’s stream in Miami. He is not on drugs, he is schizophrenic. He has been missing for three months and his case is closed as a homicide in Michigan.”

Lacy assumes the homicide comment means the police thought Troy was the victim of a homicide. On her X-rated page, Lacy said it seemed like the story had a happy ending.

“Yesterday he came to me and Clix and now his family knows he is alive and in Miami. I didn't know if I should make this public but I hope it helps his family find him,” Lacy wrote.

The Flint Township Police Department confirmed that the boy seen in the video is Troy Coleman. On its Facebook page, the department wrote: “A big thank you to everyone who has shared information about Troy Coleman’s disappearance. He has been found safe and sound in Miami, Florida and we are working with local authorities to arrange for his safe return to Michigan to be with his family.”
