Metro: passers-by fatally stab a man who sexually assaulted a woman

A man who Las Vegas police say was trying to sexually assault a woman was killed Tuesday, stabbed by people who flew past the attack and rushed to the woman's aid, according to Metropolitan Police.

The incident occurred shortly after 3:30 p.m., when police received reports of a stabbing in the 3400 block of East Charleston Boulevard. Metro officers found the man in an alley and transported him to University Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead, police said.

Police then located a separate crime scene at a shed in the 1000 block of Laurel Avenue, where detectives determined the man allegedly committed a sexual assault on a woman inside. Several other people heard a woman screaming and intervened, leading to the stabbing.

Metro has not identified any suspects but said the investigation is still ongoing.
