Men charged in Auburn bar shooting, stabbing plead guilty

Two men accused of a shooting and stabbing outside Harley's Pub in Auburn in late November pleaded guilty in court Friday.

Angelo L. Diaz III, 27, pleaded guilty to attempted second-degree murder, first-degree assault and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, and Matthew Williams-McIntyre, 27, pleaded guilty guilty of criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree. in Cayuga County Court that morning, according to a press release from the Cayuga County Prosecutor's Office.

The two men, from Geneva, are expected to be sentenced on August 22. Diaz is expected to receive concurrent sentences of 10 years in state prison, followed by five years of post-release supervision for each charge, and Williams-McIntyre is expected to receive 4.5 years. years in state prison followed by five years of post-release supervision.

Charges of attempted murder and assault were added for Diaz in light of injuries suffered by one of the two victims in the incident, including a collapsed lung and two rib fractures.

The incident took place early in the morning of Nov. 29 at the bar at 149 State St. District Attorney Brittany Grome Antonacci said an investigation by the Auburn Police Department determined that Williams-McIntyre had transported the .45-caliber semi-automatic handgun used in the shooting from Pennsylvania to New York.

That morning, Grome Antonacci said, Williams-McIntyre handed the gun to Diaz, who shot one of the victims through the window of a vehicle operated by Williams-McIntyre.
