Memphis police link Jeep to deadly April shooting

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — As the Memphis Police Department continues to investigate an April shooting that killed two people and injured a child, they have released more information that they hope can help them find the suspects responsible.

On April 8, officers responded to a shooting at Mississippi Boulevard and Crump Boulevard. When they arrived, they located a red Hyundai Sonata occupied by two adults in the front seat and a child in the back seat.

All the occupants had been shot.

The driver was taken to Regional One Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead. The male passenger was pronounced dead at the scene.

The child was transported to Le Bonheur Hospital and later recovered from his injuries.

Officers were told the victims were followed by a white Jeep Laredo that had a broken rear driver's side window covered with a black plastic bag.

On Wednesday, MPD released video and photos of that vehicle in hopes the public would recognize it and help locate their suspect.

Police said the suspect's vehicle followed the victims to the scene of the shooting and was then seen speeding westbound on Crump Boulevard.

No arrests have been made, but the investigation is still ongoing.
