Memorial Day brings near-perfect weather to Utah

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) – It's almost perfect weather here in Utah this Memorial Day, and tomorrow will probably be even warmer.

On this day when we remember and honor those who lost their lives protecting our freedoms, the weather will be favorable for the many events taking place across the state today.

Skies will be mostly sunny to partly cloudy with daytime temperatures about 3 to 5 degrees above average. Most will see highs in the 70s and 80s, while St. George and Lake Powell will enter the 90s. Skies will remain dry for the most part, but a few stray pop-ups cannot be ruled out on high ground near the I-70.

The existing southwesterly flow will help push our temperatures even higher on Tuesday while our skies remain generally calm. Tomorrow afternoon, daytime temperatures will be about 5 to 10 degrees above average.

Along the Wasatch Front we will see the mid 80s, while Park City will climb into the mid 70s. Like today, a few fleeting showers and thunderstorms cannot be ruled out with showers favoring the central and northern mountains .

By midweek, a weak system will sweep across the northern half of the state and send up a weak cold front. Temperatures will decrease slightly on Wednesday with more notable cooling by Thursday, with maximum temperatures in the north expected to be near or slightly below average by Thursday. Along the Wasatch Front we will return to the low and mid 70s. As for humidity, chances will remain low, however, a few isolated showers are possible Wednesday in northern Utah.

As we wrap up the work week and head into the weekend, we will quickly warm above seasonal normals while skies look to remain mostly dry.
