The incident happened shortly before 8 p.m. at the Falling Oaks Pool clubhouse on Guilford Boulevard in Medina.

Police said a pedestrian “got into an altercation” with some of the partygoers, “resulting in the stabbing of a 36-year-old man.” Police responded to the scene and located the victim, who was transported to the hospital by the Medina Life Support Team.

Police say officers recovered a knife at the scene and determined the suspect may have fled before arriving on scene and could not have been found in the immediate area. A police investigation identified Watkins as the suspect.

Watkins was found at a residence in Lakewood “later that evening,” police said, and taken into custody. He was taken to the Medina County Jail. Watkins could face additional charges after his case is presented to the Medina County grand jury.

Police have not released any information on the victim's current condition.
