Mays Landing man charged in fatal stabbing

Michael Carney, 39, was arrested at a residence he rented from Solomon Lonner, 49, of Lakewood.

Police responded to the residence at 789 Park Road around 5:19 p.m. on a report of a stabbing following multiple 911 calls. When officers arrived, they found Lonner with multiple stab wounds. Lonner was taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City Division, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

Carney resided in the Park Road home, which he rented with several other people from Lonner, police said.

Carney has been charged with murder and multiple weapons-related offenses, police said.

Lonner's cause of death is pending an autopsy by the Southern Regional Medical Examiner. The District Attorney's Office Major Crimes Unit and Hamilton Township Police are currently investigating.
