GRAVES COUNTY, Ky. (KBSI) – A Mayfield man is facing charges after sheriff’s deputies say he stole a vehicle.

Jason Garber, 47 of Mayfield, faces charges of Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle 1st Offense, DUI 2nd Offense, Disorderly Conduct 2nd Degree, Fleeing or Eluding Police 2nd Degree, Resisting arrest as well as traffic offenses.

Graves County Sheriff's deputies responded to a home just west of Mayfield on Sunday, May 26 around 2 p.m. for a report of a possible vehicle theft.

Deputies say Garber took a vehicle without permission.

Deputy Ben Doran and Sgt. Richard Edwards took the information and began searching for the vehicle.

They say Garber was found a short time later while driving the vehicle on Mitchell Drive.

Deputy Doran attempted to stop the vehicle and the driver continued a short distance, then stopped at a home on Lakeshore Drive, according to sheriff's deputies.

They say Garber got out of the vehicle and then ran from deputies before a Taser was used on Garber.

After the Taser was deployed, officers arrested Garber after a brief struggle.

Deputies determined Garber had ingested methamphetamine earlier in the day before his arrest.

Garber was then taken to the Graves County RC Center and then transferred to an out-of-county facility by Graves County Jail staff.
