Mastermind of international organ trafficking arrested, says Kerala police | Other key accused arrested

Pratap, who had initially contacted the trafficking mafia to donate his kidney but was unable to do so due to some illnesses, joined the group and became their main person, contacting the recipients through social media.

He would send donors from India to Iran. In Iran, they were received by Sabith Nassar, already in police custody, specifies the police press release. They were then sent back to India.

Sajith Shyam, suspected of being in charge of the gang's financial affairs, was also arrested. Nasar, a native of Valappadu in Thrissur district, was arrested from the Cochin International Airport Limited (CIAL) two weeks ago after receiving a tip-off from central agencies.

The accused have all been charged under relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Human Organ Transplantation Act, 1994. A large team led by the Ernakulam rural SP has launched a detailed investigation into the case.
