Massive fire in Sacramento County destroys commercial building

The Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District said it responded to the two-alarm fire with 250- to 325-gallon-per-minute hoses from the ground and several aerial ladder trucks running at 1,000 gallons per minute, each over .

Firefighters faced multiple challenges during the incident.

“Access to individual units was limited, so units ended up cutting several roll-up doors,” Metro Fire crews said. “The ember flow has also caused great concern about the risk of spot fires to adjacent buildings and vegetation. »

They added: “The building was not fitted with sprinklers, so the huge amount of combustible material inside was allowed to grow quickly and unchecked. That said, most of the building was saved and no injuries were reported.

Firefighters said it took about 40 minutes to extinguish the building.
