Smoke could be seen from our TV5 Bay City live camera on the west side of Bay City at 8:30 p.m.

Chief Bryan Benchley, Hampton Township public safety director, said firefighters were called to the scene at 8:02 p.m.

Benchley said it was a five- or six-bay pole building containing a few tractor-trailers, boats and personal vehicles that caught fire. He said the building was a total loss.

Around 9:15 p.m., Benchley told TV5 that the smoke had calmed down a bit, so it was likely about to die down, and he said no injuries had been reported that he knew of.

Portsmouth Township, Bay City, Tuscola County and Essexville assisted Hampton Township.
