Massachusetts man pleads guilty to coastal drug trafficking: DEA

Carlos Alejandro Chevalier Santos, 22, of Methuen, Massachusetts, confessed to his role in a drug trafficking conspiracy operating in the Seacoast area.

Santos pleaded guilty in federal court to charges of conspiracy to distribute and distribute controlled substances. Sentencing is scheduled for September 16, 2024.

Santos, identified as a “runner” for the Methuen-based organization, was responsible for delivering fentanyl and methamphetamine. During the investigation, undercover agents purchased drugs from Santos on several occasions, including a pound of methamphetamine in February 2024.

The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) led the investigation, with assistance from various local and state law enforcement agencies. Santos faces up to 20 years in prison, a minimum of three years of supervised release and a potential $1 million fine.

Charges remain against Santos' co-conspirators in the drug trafficking network.
