Massachusetts man accused of stabbing brother to death in Attleboro

A Massachusetts man is facing charges after being accused Monday morning in the stabbing death of his brother in Attleboro. Police were called at 3:25 a.m. to the area between 5 and 6 Melissa Drive for a reported disturbance. When officers arrived, they found the victim outside 5 Melissa Drive suffering from multiple stab wounds, officials said. The victim, Richard McCormick, 47, of North Attleborough, was taken to Sturdy Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The victim's brother, James McCormick, 51, of Attleboro, was arrested and is being held on charges of assault with intent to kill and battery. Residents said James McCormick had lived on Melissa Drive for several years and they had never seen an incident like this happen in the neighborhood. “It's very quiet here. There's never any problems,” said Kristine Erickson, who lives on Melissa Drive. . “It’s so strange that it’s on my street.” “I was totally surprised. It was a shock, something like that,” said Debra Skorker, who lives nearby. “It's a quiet neighborhood. Everyone gets along well and everyone is pretty friendly.” James McCormick is scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday in Attleboro District Court.
