Mass firefighters battle 5-alarm fire

CHELSEA, Mass. — Fire crews are responding to a five-alarm fire that engulfed a Chelsea building on Revere Beach Parkway, according to reports from the area.

The fire reportedly broke out at the former Russo's Tuxedo store, The Everett Firefighters Union said in an article on, formerly Twitter. The Cambridge Fire Department also reported that it had crews available to provide mutual aid, according to an article on.

Responders did not immediately say whether there were occupants of the building or injuries.

THE Chelsea scanner reported the fire, then two alarms, just after 10 a.m. The fire reportedly reached five alarms just after 11 a.m. Images from the scene showed clouds of smoke billowing from the large building as crews worked to control the fire.

Cambridge Fire reported that companies had been working to control the fire for more than 5 hours around 4:30 p.m.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation, the state fire marshal's office said.
