Martonio Wilder, 8, missing from Milo-Grogan area of Columbus

Columbus police have asked area law enforcement to be on the lookout for the mother of a missing 8-year-old boy, who is being sought as a homicide suspect.

Police issued an alert Friday night for Lashonda D. Wilder, 32, who is the mother of missing 8-year-old Martonio Wilder. Police said they believe she was traveling with her two other children, ages 9 and 3.

It was unclear whether the homicide for which Lashonda Wilder was wanted as a suspect involved her missing son. The radio alert did not indicate that, and detectives with the Columbus police homicide unit could not be reached Friday night.

Lashanda Wilder was described as 5 feet 7 inches tall and 220 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. Police had no information about the vehicle she was in, according to the radio station.

Martonio Wilder was last seen around 9:30 p.m. Thursday in the area of Olmstead and St. Clair avenues in the Milo-Grogan neighborhood, the Columbus police missing persons unit reported.

Police said Wilder was wearing a black t-shirt and camouflage pajama pants. He measures 90 centimeters and weighs 34 kilos. He has black hair and brown eyes.

Due to Martonio's age, police said he was classified as “missing in danger.”

The Columbus Police Missing Persons Unit confirmed Friday evening that Martonio's mother was wanted by police, but did not confirm it was a homicide – despite the much-repeated BOLO on the Columbus police radio channels which was later taken over by Delaware County and other agencies in radio traffic. .

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Lashanda Wilder is asked to call 911 or Columbus Police at 614-645-4545. Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Martonio is asked to contact missing persons at 614-645-2358 or 614-645-4545.
