Marshall County man arrested after crashing car fleeing police

Around 9:45 a.m. on May 28, the Lafayette County Sheriff's Office received a report of a reckless driver on the 7 Freeway.

A Lafayette County Sheriff's deputy observed the vehicle near the intersection of Highway 7 and CR 1032.

A traffic stop was conducted on the vehicle, when the deputy exited his patrol car, the vehicle sped off southbound. The vehicle turned around and headed north on the highway. 7. The deputy continued.

The vehicle ultimately collided with another vehicle near CR 244 and Hwy. 7 crossroads. The driver then fled on foot.

The suspect was later arrested and identified as Larriel Milam, 30, of Marshall County.

Milam and the other party were transported to the Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi emergency room where they were treated for non-life-threatening injuries following the crash.

Milam was transported from the emergency room to the Lafayette County Detention Center and was issued a $5,000 bond by a Lafayette County Court judge.

Milam is also in custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections, Union County Sheriff's Department, Oxford Police Department, Panola County Sheriff's Department and Shelby County Sheriff's Department.
