Marisa Simonetti arrested for throwing tarantula at suspected squatter

An aspiring Minnesota lawmaker was photographed smirking in her photo after being arrested for allegedly throwing a live tarantula at her tenant during a fight.

Marisa Simonetti, 30, was handcuffed on assault charges after she was accused of throwing the eight-legged creature inside the home in Edina, just outside Minneapolis, last Friday, FOX9 reported.

The cobweb entangling crime allegedly unfolded when the roommate, local attorney Jackie Vasquez, called 911 to report that Simonetti was trespassing on her section of the property.

When cops arrived, the alleged victim told them that Simonetti — who is running for Hennepin County Board commissioner — had thrown the spider and other debris at him during a rental dispute.

Footage posted on social media showed Simonetti throwing the tarantula from a container onto a staircase inside the house.

Simonetti, for her part, claimed the fight broke out when she accused Vasquez of being a squatter.

The congresswoman, who does not own the property, said she had rented a room from Vasquez several weeks earlier through a short-term rental website – but refused to come out once the contract ended.

“Maybe I should have invited him over for tea and crumpets,” Simonetti told the outlet about the fight.

Simonetti spent the weekend in custody and was released after a court hearing on Monday.

Despite the spider saga, Simonetti said she still intends to run for Hennepin County commissioner.

“I'm good at solving problems creatively, and in the end, I didn't physically hurt anyone,” she said.

“I’m a little unconventional in my ways – sometimes. I mean, I'm a stupid goose.
