Mandatory evacuation issued for Missouri Lakes neighborhood due to Gilpin County fire

DENVER (KDVR) — Missouri Lakes Subdivision #1 was under a mandatory evacuation Wednesday due to a fire in Gilpin County, according to the sheriff's office.

Around 11:30 a.m., the Gilpin County Sheriff's Office reported a fire in Missouri Lakes Subdivision 1, approximately one acre in size. As of midday, the sheriff's office said the fire's spread had been stopped and was 60 percent contained.


All residents in the subdivision were ordered to immediately evacuate to the Gilpin County Recreation Center when the fire was first reported. The evacuation notice was still in effect while firefighters were still working in the area.

Pre-evacuation advisories were initially in place for the Lake View Subdivision, Paradise Valley, Fox Tail Circle and Drive, Lodge Pole Lane and Juniper Road, but had been lifted by noon.
