Man who stabbed Galloway Township police officer, injured another charged: prosecutors

A grand jury indicted Keith Kiminsky, 30, on attempted murder charges Wednesday, June 26, the Atlantic County District Attorney's Office said in a news release. already charged on Sunday, April 7, for several crimes, including attempted murder, aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and resisting arrest.

Galloway police responded to a home in the 300 block of Cresson Avenue after multiple hang-up calls to 911. Body camera video released by police shows Kiminsky's mother answering the door and telling an officer her son had a knife.

On the video, we see Kiminsky rushing towards the agent. Investigators said he stabbed Officer Erik Tarnow in the right side of the face with a serrated knife.

Tarnow and Officer Hunter Thomas tackled Kiminsky to the ground and struggled with him for several minutes until additional officers arrived. Kiminsky was then taken into custody and both officers were taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, Atlantic City Division.

Tarnow required emergency surgery after suffering a serious injury to his right cheek near the carotid artery in his neck, which exposed his mouth and teeth. Thomas was released later that evening after being treated for a minor head injury.

Kiminsky was held at the Atlantic County Judicial Center.
