Man who broke into New Orleans home and was shot | Crime/Police

A man accused of burglarizing a Little Woods home and shooting a man inside has been arrested, according to records New Orleans police filed in Criminal District Court.

Reginald Favaroth, 54, was jailed Saturday on second-degree murder charges in the June 12 shooting death of 45-year-old Warren Richard.

Police wrote in an affidavit for Favaroth's arrest that he and another man were dressed as construction workers when they went to a home in the 10800 block of Kinneil Road.

They forced one victim inside at gunpoint around 8 a.m., according to the affidavit. The men then allegedly shot Richard and demanded money from the other adults present.

When they left the scene, a man left behind a hard hat that allowed police to detect fingerprints, according to the affidavit. One fingerprint matched a print of Favaroth's right middle finger that police had in their system from a previous arrest.

Police wrote in court documents that surveillance footage also showed Favaroth's face, which they compared with recorded photos of him. Favaroth's alleged accomplice remains at large, according to court records.

Commissioner Jonathan Friedman set Favaroth's bond at $1,000,000 on Saturday.
