Man wanted in deadly Northwest, D.C. shooting

The man was captured on nearby surveillance cameras after the shooting.

WASHINGTON — Police are asking for the public's help in finding the man responsible for a fatal shooting in Northwest Washington, DC.

Just after midnight on Wednesday, May 29, officers responded to a shooting on Hanover Place on Northwest Side. Once on scene, officers found a man who had been shot, lying in the road. He died at the scene. He has since been identified as Maurice Downing, 34, of Northwest, DC.

The suspected shooter was captured by nearby surveillance cameras and can be seen in the photos below.

Anyone with knowledge of this shooting should do nothing but call police at 202-727-9099 or text your information to the department's tip line at 50411. The Metropolitan Police Department is currently offering a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone providing information. which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for a violent crime committed in the District of Columbia.
