Man suffers serious facial injuries after 'violent attack' with weapon in Greenock

A man has been taken to hospital after suffering “serious facial injuries” following an armed attack by two men in Inverclyde.

Police said a 51-year-old man was the subject of a “violent attack” by two men at around 1.50pm in Lansbury Street in Greenock on Friday May 31.

The man was taken to the Royal Alexandra Hospital to be treated for “serious facial injuries” after being attacked with a weapon.

The first man involved is described as being between 40 and 50 years old, heavyset, bald, and wearing a green shirt and blue jeans.

The second man is described as having brown hair and a full beard and was wearing a gray top with a distinctive dark banner across the shoulders and gray tracksuit bottoms.

Police said a white Vauxhall van was in the area at the time of the assault.

Detective Constable Laura Sokolov said: “This was a violent attack and we are appealing for any information that could help us find the men responsible.

“If you were in Lansbury Street around 1.50pm on Friday afternoon and saw or heard something suspicious, please contact us.

“We would be particularly keen to hear from anyone who has private CCTV or dash cam footage of the surrounding area which may be important to our investigations.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101citing incident number 2328 from Friday May 31, 2024.
