Man stabbed to death in Morris Heights road rage attack – NBC New York

A car crash sparked an argument between two drivers in the Bronx that quickly escalated into violence — and death, according to police sources.

The incident happened around 4:30 p.m. Tuesday on Phelan Place in the Morris Heights neighborhood, police said. Two cars collided and the drivers got into an argument, police sources told NBC New York.

One of the drivers, a woman, called a man to the scene of the accident and started fighting with the other driver, a man.

The man called to the scene and the man driving the other car then began to get into the vehicle, according to police sources. That's when the victim, Ronald Gomez-Mesa, 29, tried to intervene.

Shortly afterward, Gomez-Mesa was stabbed by the man called to the scene, sources said. He suffered a stab wound to the chest and was taken to St. Barnabas Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

No arrests have been made yet. Police have not said whether they have taken anyone into custody. An investigation is ongoing.
