Man stabbed to death after allegedly sexually assaulting woman

LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — A man was stabbed to death after allegedly sexually assaulting a woman in East Las Vegas.

Police say the incident happened at 3:34 p.m. in the 1000 block of Laurel Avenue, off Charleston Boulevard.

Investigators said in the area there was a shed in a dirt lot, where the alleged sexual assault allegedly took place.

Lt. Jason Johansson of the LVMPD Homicide Section said a group of people heard a woman screaming, ran to help her and that's when the man was stabbed.

When police arrived on scene, they found the man near an alley with stab wounds. He was taken to University Medical Center where he later died.

Police are still on scene at 8 p.m. and continue to question witnesses, including the female victim, and review surveillance footage.

Investigators said the group that helped the woman left the scene before officers arrived. The police ask them to come forward because they want to question them to understand what happened.

“It's absolutely brave. I commend them for doing this and man, if I was here I probably would have done the same thing. Especially being a young woman who was attacked in the way that she was, I mean, the guy got it like what he deserved,” said KC Cox, who lives nearby.
